Baltimore County police were called to Prettyboy Elementary School at 7:17 p.m. on Sept. 12 after receiving a 911 call from a woman who said a stranger had approached her two children, police report.

The 8-year-old girl and her brother, 4, said they were near a fence at the Gore Mill Road side of the school property when a man in a truck stopped and asked if they needed a ride home, said Baltimore County police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher. The girl grabbed her brother and left to tell their mother.

The children told police the man was a very tan white male with short facial hair and a short haircut. He was in a dark pickup truck, Rogers-Feher said.

Police searched the area but did not find the man or the truck, Rogers-Feher said.

There were many adults and children at the school property that evening, since there was soccer practice, dance registration and a recreation council meeting, said Prettyboy principal Sue Truesdell.

The following day, she sent a phone message about the incident to all Prettyboy parents and she also sent a letter home.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
