Arbutus fire-rescue Log: Volunteers rescue accident victims trapped in vehicles on Baltimore Beltway and I-95

Among the 84 calls the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department received for medical and fire-rescue service during the period Dec. 30-Jan. 6 were the following:

Frederick Road, 6300 block, 11:42 a.m. Jan. 5. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Catonsville, Halethorpe, Westview and Woodlawn career stations responded to the report of a fire in a building in Catonsville. No fire was found, but smoke was cleared from the building.

Langford Road, 1600 block, 6:43 a.m. Jan. 5. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Catonsville, Westview and Woodlawn career stations responded to the report of a residential fire in Westview. A townhouse fire was extinguished and no injuries reported.

Interstate 695 between exits 11 and 12A, 5:00 p.m. Jan. 4. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident with a person trapped in a vehicle on the Baltimore Beltway in the Catonsville area. One seriously injured person rescued from the vehicle and taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center

Interstate 95 between exits 47-49, 9:43 a.m. Jan. 1. Crews from the Arbutus, English Consul and Lansdowne volunteer stations and Halethorpe career station responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident with a person trapped in a vehicle on the interstate. One critically injured person rescued from the vehicle. Two critically injured people taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Wilkens Avenue, 4600 block, 6:11 p.m. Dec. 31. Crews responded to a fire alarm at the Giant food store and found a Freon leak, but no fire.
