Towson Town Center is hosting National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 3, in conjunction with Go Red For Women, a program of the American Heart Association.
The event is designed to increase awareness of the threat to women of heart disease and heart attacks.
Shoppers are encouraged to wear red to Towson Town Center on Friday. During the day, they can also visit the Grand Court on level 1 between noon and 6 p.m. and have their picture taken, while explaining why they decided to "Go Red."
For each photo taken, Towson Town Center will donate $1 to Go Red for Women, up to $5,000.
The first 200 people robed in red to have their picture taken will receive a gift bag that includes a $10 mall gift card, an American Heart Association giveaway and other restaurant and retailer offers. All photos will be posted to the mall's Facebook page.
From noon to 4 p.m., attendees can also take advantage of refreshments and free blood pressure screenings.
Johns Hopkins Vascular and Interventional Radiology doctors and nurses will be on hand to discuss and council patients regarding blood pressure management and risk factor modifications.
Annie Wildasin, senior marketing manager for Towson Town Center, said, "Most women think they're immune to a heart attack and would never recognize the signs if they were having one. This event helps women learn to recognize the critical warning signs that could quite literally, save their or another woman's life."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
