Police looking for suspects in double stabbing at Light Rail stop

Baltimore County police and Mass Transit Administration police have asked for the public's help in identifying those involved in last month's double stabbing at the Light Rail stop on West Patapsco Avenue.

Just before midnight on July 16, two men, ages 27 and 19, were walking to the bus stop at the station when a group confronted them, according to a release from the police.

Each man was stabbed multiple times and had their cell phones and other property taken, the release stated.

Both men were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

County police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter said the wounds were not life-threatening.

A 45-year-old man who saw the robbery and tried to intervene was punched in the face, according to the release, but did not require medical treatment.

Wachter said it is not clear if whether the person who punched the 45-year-old also stabbed the other men.

The person believed responsible for the stabbing is described by police as a black male about 16 years old.

According to the release, he and the rest of the group fled the scene on foot toward the Cherry Hill neighborhood of south Baltimore before police arrived.

Wachter could not provide any information on the number of people in the group.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587.

Callers to Metro Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may receive an award of up to $2,000.
