Dewey Lowman Post 109 of the American Legion will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on May 28.
Members of the Arbutus post's 27 Flags Unit will begin the ceremony by presenting the colors at the flag pole at the intersection of Oregon and Carville avenues with Sulphur Spring Road.
In addition to bagpipe music by post member Phil Penne and the singing of Cass Schreiner, Army Sgt. Joseph Payne will play "Taps" on the bugle during the ceremony.
Local elected officials are expected to attend, including state Sen. Edward Kasemeyer, whose District 12 includes Catonsville and Arbutus, Dels. James Malone and Steven DeBoy, whose District 12A in Baltimore County includes Catonsville and Arbutus, and Councilman Tom Quirk, whose 1st District includes Catonsville and Arbutus.
The ceremony usually lasts 30 minutes and the public is invited to attend and remember those in the Armed Forces who died while serving their country.
