Churches offer a setting for sharing during Sunday lunch

Christ Deaf Church's congregation believes that breaking bread together on Sundays fosters a camaraderie that is truly biblical. Fortunately, area United Methodist churches agree. Each Sunday, cooking crews tote lunch fixings to 1040 S. Beechfield Ave., where tasty entrees and desserts get dished up at 1 p.m., free of charge. Helping hands are always needed. No sign language skills are required, just a smile of friendship.

Christ United Methodist Church's Harvest Festival is filled with enticing community activities. Tables overflow with flea mart treasures. Games and contests challenge children and teens. Sweet treats soothe sugar lovers and yummy lunch choices. Organizers have set this year's extravaganza from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at 2833 Florida Ave. To sell your wares, rent a table for $15 or a space without one for $10. Early reservations secure prime locations.
