A West Towson man was shot early Sunday morning, Feb. 26, by an intruder in his home, according to a Baltimore County Police spokesman.

Cpl. Robert Carman said police responded to a call in the 500 block of Allegheny Avenue in Towson around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday after receiving reports that a man was shot.

Police said the homeowner at the location reported he had arrived home to discover a burglar inside his home. He told police that the suspect had shot him, and that the suspect then ran from the home.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and police said Sunday afternoon that he is expected to make a full recovery.

A nearby resident of that neighborhood, who was returning home early Sunday morning, told the Towson Times that police presence in the area was heavy in the moments following the shooting.

At the scene the resident, who asked not to be identified, said he was told to go inside and lock his doors as police searched for the shooter.

Police said the suspect was later located near the intersection of Bosley and Chesapeake avenues and placed under arrest, and was then interviewed by detectives from the county's Violent Crimes Unit.

There is no indication at this point that the victim was targeted, and there is no known relationship between the victim and the suspect, police said. There was no additional information regarding the suspect.

In a statement Sunday afternoon, police said the case remains, "a very active, ongoing investigation. Detectives are continuing to investigate this case and gather evidence."
