York Manor Garden Club will make a "Pot Man" at its April 19 meeting. Member Mary Oros will demonstrate how to create him from clay pots.

The group meets the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in a member's house. New members are always welcome. Call president Ann Collins at 410-918-0028 to attend a meeting or learn more about the group.

The club has elected new officers. In addition to Ann as president, they are Judy Walter, program chair; Sue Scheper, secretary; and Fran Keefer, treasurer.

The Historical Society of Baltimore County has a fun day of riding with an historical theme planned for this Saturday, April 14.

"Biking into History: Almshouse to Hampton Mansion" will take patrons on a round trip ride from the society's Almshouse in Cockeysville to Hampton Mansion, for a guided tour and enjoy a catered picnic lunch before heading back.

The ride is open to those ages 15 and older. Cost is $20, free to high school students accompanied by an adult rider (limit two students per adult). Pre-registration is required. For details, contact tourinfo@hsobc.org.

Congratulations to Graham Shaffer on his seventh-place finish in the Maryland State Geography Bee, held March 30 at the Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville campus. Graham is an eighth-grader at St. Paul's School for Boys.

More than 125,000 students in grades four through eight competed at their schools, with the winner from each school taking a second geography test. The top 100 finalists on the test then competed at the state bee. Graham's parents are Susan and Kevin Shaffer of Dulaney Village.

Mark your calendars for Hampton Elementary School's Dolphin Dreams silent auction and ice cream social, set for next Friday, April 20. All proceeds go directly toward purchasing technology for the school.

Basket bingo aficionados will mark their calendars for Friday, April 27, when the Lutherville Community Association will hold a basket bingo at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kurtz Avenue. Yard sale season is fast approaching, and our neighborhood associations are making plans. Dulaney Village will host its yard sale Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Orchard Hills Community Association annual Easter Egg Hunt was held March 31. Emma Burke was grand prize winner of a large stuffed animal and gift card. Special egg winners were Greta Giese and Julia Cooke. They each received a stuffed animal and gift card.
