The summer season is in full swing, as is the series of free weekly outdoor concerts in the Catonsville area.

Aug. 2: Westview Park Summer Concert Series continues with Free Stuff.

Enjoy a variety of classic rock, and more, starting at 7 p.m. in Westview Neighborhood Park, at the corner of Chesworth and Gilston Park roads.

Music fans should bring chairs, blankets and picnics to the free Thursday evening event, which is sponsored by the Edmondson-Westview Recreation and Parks Council, and the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks.

Aug. 3: Frederick Road Fridays concerts series continues with High Strung, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Enjoy this bluegrass band that blends traditional and nontraditional material into a distinctive sound all its own performing on stage at Egges Lane, next door to the Catonsville Fire Department, 756 Frederick Road.

The summer series, sponsored by Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, is now in its fifth season.

Aug. 4: Lurman Woodland Theatre weekend series features The Columbia Jazz Band performing a mix of jazz, blues, swing and Latin.

The 30-member band from Columbia is nonprofit community organization that gives non-professional musicians the opportunity to rehearse and perform challenging band literature while educating and entertaining the public, according to its website.

Aug. 4: Lurman Woodland Theatre weekend series features the Maryland Defense Force Band.

The 20-piece band will play a variety of music to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

Saturday and Sunday shows are both 6-8 p.m. in the natural setting off Hilltop Road on the Catonsville High School campus.

Fans should bring chairs or blankets. Bench seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Food and drinks available for purchase or fans can bring their own.

No alcohol, grills or pets.

Donations accepted to support the annual summer series.
