In October 2011, the deposed Libyan dictator was captured and killed in the fall of his hometown of Surt. <a href="http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-fg-moammar-kadafi-20111021,0,1953451.story"><span class="center_label">Obituary</span></a> | <a href="http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/moammar-kadafi/"><span class="center_label">Full coverage of Kadafi's death</span></a> | <a href="http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-moammar-kadafi-pictures,0,35033.photogallery"><span class="center_label">Photos: Kadafi through the years</span></a>
