Only three women have been nominated for best director over the last 81 years: Lina Wertmuller ("Seven Beauties"), <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB000829" title="Jane Campion" href="/topic/entertainment/jane-campion-PECLB000829.topic">Jane Campion</a> ("The Piano") and <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB001134" title="Sofia Coppola" href="/topic/entertainment/sofia-coppola-PECLB001134.topic">Sofia Coppola</a> ("Lost in Translation").
