New "Catch VD" Billboard Campaign For 'Vampire Diaries' Stirs Controversy

Imagine your job is to stand in Times Square and point out to people the newest billboard one that says "Catch VD."

Now, imagine the responses you get when you ask what that means. Some of the crowd of mostly tourists guessed incorrectly, "Venereal Disease."

Some had some more creative yet still incorrect answers, but no one said "Vampire Diaries," even though that's actually what it stands for.

The sexy CW show is drumming up some controversy with it's latest ad nestled between one for "Mamma Mia" and the Disney Store.

Some say it's misleading, some say it's offensive, but hey, people are talking about it. So, what do you think about it?

"The Vampire Diaries" has been on haitus in recent weeks and returns with new episodes on Thursday at 8 p.m. The CW show stars actors Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, and is based on L.J. Smith's popular book series of the same name.
