Pop star Rihanna is breaking her silence for the first time since being brutally beaten by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in February.

The Barbadian beauty opened up in the December issue of Glamour magazine - which crowned the singer "2009's Woman of the Year."

Rihanna said she was shocked of the aftermath stemming from the attack which occurred the night before this year's Grammy Awards.

"I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears," she said. "That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day."

The pop singer said she was furious when a photo of her - that showcased the severe injuries she endured in the attack - was leaked to the media. She said she grew even more infuriated when she learned that two unidentified women were found to be the culprits behind the leak of the now-infamous photograph.

"It was humiliating; that is not a photo you would show to anybody," she said. "I felt completely taken advantage of. I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it's my life."

The "Umbrella" singer said she now wants to act as an unofficial spokesperson for victims of domestic violence.

"Domestic violence is a big secret," she said. "I want to give as much insight as I can to young women to help speak for them."

Rihanna is expected to sit down with ABC"s Diane Sawyer this week, in what will be her first televised interview since the attack.
