NEW YORK (WPIX)—
Fans of Lady Gaga's hit record, "Fame Monster" can now dress the part of the lyrics of one of the album's eccentric songs "Teeth" in which the over-the-top; artist sings, "Take a bite of my bad girl meat."The costume -- which costs a cool $100,000 -- is made up of 112 pounds of raw meat that reportedly includes a 32-ounce rib eye steak hat. The creative costume was showcased to prospective buyers Wednesday afternoon by a live model at the Old Homestead Steakhouse located on 9th Avenue in the Meatpacking district of Manhattan.
The model also handed out accessories including designer trick or treat handbags filled with all sorts of things -- such as filet mignon, porterhouse steaks, chocolate sauce, candy corn and a replica of the VMA trophy Lady Gaga won last month.
"We are 'meating' a demand for the most sought after costume of Halloween 2010," explained Marc Sherry, co-owner of Old Homstead Steakhouse. "You can go trick or treating in the raw - literally. My staff thought I was going gaga when I told them they had to create this costume without butchering it."
Sherry, along with the restaurant's executive chef and other members of the Old Homestead culinary team, created the Halloween Gaga meat costume with USDA prime, dry-aged sirloin, porterhouse, rib-eye and Kobe steaks. The headpiece is an elaborate, sophisticated, ornate 32-ounce rib-eye steak, and the shoes are petite filet mignons.
Sherry said he was disgusted how designer Franc Fernandez butchered the dress Gaga appeared in at the VMAs in September covered in raw beef.
He said to the naked eye, it looked chic. However, to true bovine fashionistas, he said it was easy to see that Fernandez sent Gaga on stage in a cheap cut. Sherry said anyone who buys the costume is sure to catch the eye everyone this Halloween.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime, must-have costume. Just think of the memories, the photo opportunities, the 15 minutes of fame just by wearing Lady Gaga's meat dress," Sherry said.
