Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex was arrested Friday after allegedly threatening his wife in text messages, pushing her to the ground and breaking her phone, according to police.
The fight was sparked by text messages that Flex sent Thursday, his wife reportedly told Greenburgh Town police. The shouting turned physical once they were inside their home where the DJ's wife claims she was pushed her to the ground.
When she tried to call the police, Flex grabbed her phone and smashed it in a fit of rage, she told police.
Police did respond to the residence, and found the 42-year-old DJ and car enthusiast outside of the house, sitting in his 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. He was held on charges of criminal mischief and harassment, according to police.
Funkmaster Flex, a New York native born Aston George Taylor Jr., was arraigned on Friday and released on $500 bail.
Flex got his first big break in the 1990s on Yo! MTV Raps and quickly became a fixture on the hip-hop scene. He hosts his own daily radio show on New York's Hot 97.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
