FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. (WPIX)—
New Jersey residents have been plagued with sightings of rogue bears in recent days, and the latest sighting was on a "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star's front lawn on Tuesday.Caroline Manzo, who lives in Franklin Lakes, tweeted at around 7:40 a.m., "There is the biggest f***ing bear in the world in my front yard. TERRIFIED."
According to Manzo's 21-year-old son Christopher, it seems like the adult bear prefers to live in the lap of luxury. He tweeted minutes after his mother, "Hellloooo bear in front yard" and "For those of u who ask, a bear doesn't poop in the woods...it prefers my front yard."
Manzo told PIX 11 News that the bear walked off her estate and into the woods at about 7:55 a.m.
"He had to be 7, maybe 8 feet. He was gigantic. I can't even tell you how big this bear was," said Manzo. "I'm horrified to even walk outside of my house. I don't know what to do with myself."
On Monday, a young black bear continued to elude captors in Bergenfield, about 16 miles southwest of Manzo's home. It was last seen at the 4th hole of the Knickerbocker Country Club golf course Sunday morning.
According to Bergenfield Police Capt. Thomas Yurkin, if sighted, the bear would be tranquilized and transported to a sanctuary.
"It's not unusual to find bears in our area," Caroline Manzo told PIX 11 News. "Last year, my brother Chris had a bear probably just as big sitting in his garage."
In May, a male black bear was seen wandering along a stream, behind a row of factories, less than five miles away from the George Washington Bridge in Englewood. Wildlife officials were able to tranquilize and transport the bear to a local sanctuary.
Manzo stars on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" with her sister Dina. Manzo and her husband Albert run The Brownstone, a wedding catering facility based in Paterson. She the mother of three children, 24-year-old Albie, 22-year-old Lauren and 21-year-old Christopher.
