CBS named Audra Swain vice president and general manager of Baltimore affiliate WJZ-TV on Tuesday. She succeeds Jay Newman, who announced his retirement last month after 19 years of running the station.
Swain comes from KSNV-TV and KVCW-TV in Las Vegas, where she had been general manager since 2014.
She started at KVCW in 2010 and added the KSVN duties in 2014.
WJZ’s new boss has worked in Baltimore before, according to a CBS release announcing her appointment — she spent two years as local sales manager for Sinclair’s WBFF-TV.
“Audra comes to us with an impressive track record of success everywhere she has been,” Peter Dunn, president of CBS television stations, said in the network release. “WJZ is one of the crown jewels of our station group and we look forward to having her come home and provide leadership to our terrific team in Baltimore.”
Overall, Swain has 15 years of experience in station management, according to the release.
Newman will be at the station through September; Swain is expected to arrive the week of Sept. 25.
