WBFF-TV, the Sinclair-owned Fox affiliate in Baltimore, will host a Democratic gubernatorial debate May 27, the station said Friday.
Lt. Governor Anthony Brown has said he will not participate in the Baltimore TV debate.

BALTIMORE, MD (May 16, 2014) – WBFF FOX45 is pleased to announce that it has finalized plans to host a political debate between the Democratic candidates running in the 2014 Maryland gubernatorial primary election. The debate will be moderated by FOX45 anchor Jennifer Gilbert.
The debate will focus on issues of particular interest to the greater Baltimore community. It will air live in prime time from 8:00-9:00 p.m. on WBFF FOX45 and simulcast on NewsChannel 8 in Washington, DC. The debate has been offered to television stations on the Eastern Shore and western Maryland. The debate will also stream live on WBFF’s website, www.FOXBaltimore.com.
“FOX45 is proud to host the only Baltimore-produced television debate. WBFF has always been committed to providing the most content to our viewers so they can make an informed decision on primary day,” said FOX45 News Director Mike Tomko.
Attorney General Doug Gansler and Delegate Heather Mizeur have confirmed they will attend the debate. At this time, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown has declined to participate in this televised debate, but a spot on the stage has been reserved for him.
“We hope the Lt. Governor recognizes the importance of the Baltimore vote and takes this opportunity to show voters that he is willing to address the issues that impact them the most,” said Tomko.
Questions for the candidates may be sent in from the public using social media. Questions via Twitter should use the hashtag #YourVoiceYourFuture. YouTube questions will also be accepted. Viewers should email a link to their YouTube question in advance to Casey Clark, email@example.com.
The ticketed event will be hosted at the WBFF studios. Media space for the debate is limited and available to credentialed media only. Advanced media registration is required.
