More than one out of every two TV homes in the Baltimore market was tuned to the Ravens victory over the New England Patriots Sunday, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings provided by WJZ-TV.
That translates to a 51.8 rating and a 71 share. That share means that about three our of every four homes with a TV in use during the time of the game were tuned to the CBS telecast.
The game, which was seen here on Baltimore's CBS-owned station, drew an average audience of 1.126 million viewers, with a peak of 1.23 million viewers (ages 2+).
That was up by 130,000 viewers from last week's divisional victory over the Broncos making Sunday's AFC championship game the most watched program on Baltimore TV since last year's Super Bowl.
Last week's audience in the Baltimore market for the Ravens victory over the Denver Broncos peaked at 1.1. million in double overtime. There are 2.7 million viewers in the market.
The audience for the Ravens wild-card victory over Indianapolis peaked at 974,100 viewers in the Baltimore area.
The Denver and New England games were both on WJZ, which will also carry the Super Bowl on Feb. 3.
