MASN says Thursday's game sets ratings record for Orioles

UPDATES WITH HOUSEHOLDS AND PEOPLE WATCHING: The Baltimore's Orioles Thursday night earned their highest rating in MASN history, the cable channel announced today.

The Orioles' victory over the New York Yankees earned a 9.6 rating overall, according to the channel, which started carrying Orioles games in 2006.

That translates to 104,000 households and 139,000 viewers.

The audience peaked during the final quarter hour (10:15 to 10:30 p.m.) with a 14.49 rating. That translates to 159,000 households and 233,000 viewers.

"We knew we'd see a big number heading in to last night's matchup, but we did not anticipate captivating the market as we did," said John McGuinness, senior vice president and general sales manager at MASN.

"A battle for first place coupled with Cal being honored saw our O's game and post-game coverage rank number one and number two among households and men and adults 18-49 and 25-54 demos," he added. "We are thrilled and look forward to seeing how the rest of the season unfolds."

The previous high was posted on Aug. 27th 2012 vs. the White Sox from 7 to 10:15 p.m. when the game earned a 7.39 ratings. That translated to 81,000 households. MASN did not have data on the number of people who watched.

MASN says that its household ratings through 133 games are up 44 percent compared to last year.
