Don Scott announced that he's retiring from WJZ-TV July 12.
"ICYMI -- I'll be retiring from WJZ/CBS after 40 years and on July 12th this year," Scott wrote on Twitter last week. "Thank you for four decades of your support @cbsbaltimore."
Jay Newman, general manager of WJZ, sent the following message to staff after Scott's announcement:
As some of you already know Don Scott will be retiring later this year.
I want to take this opportunity to personally thank Don for all his many, many contributions.
He has been a large part of the success of WJZ over the past 40 years!
Don has truly set the standard for morning television. It’s a standard that’s been copied all across the country.
He is a true professional and friend to many of us.
I am happy that Don has agreed to stay on until mid-summer.
Over the next few months, we’ll be working together with Don and our morning team of Marty Bass, Ron Matz, Sharon Gibala and Mike Schuh on the transition.
Please join me in congratulating Don on his success as he looks forward to sleeping in past dawn!
