Al Jazeera America's premiere week was one of the topics discussed on CNN's "Reliable Sources" Sunday.
Eric Deggans, a longtime friend and colleague, was guest host. Mohammed el-Nawawy, author of "Al-Jazeera: The Story of the Network that is Rattling Governments and Redefining Modern Journalism," and I were guests.
My argument: Al Jazeera America, with its emphasis on diversity and identification with non-elite populations, expands the conversation of democracy in mainstream media. And that's a good thing.
