Not all of the jobs are dirty in Mike Rowe's new show, but they are intriguing.
The former "Dirty Jobs" host, a Baltimore native and Towson University graduate, is heading back to TV with a new series, "Somebody's Gotta Do It," premiering 9 p.m. Oct. 8 on CNN.
The first episode, in which Rowe experiences what it takes to perform in the Las Vegas water acrobatic show "Le Reve," is streaming now on CNN Go, cnn.com/go.
The first episode is worth a look, if only to see Rowe dangling from a harness contraption.
CNN reports that the show "focuses on people whose passion for their jobs compels them to do it without question." It's when "your love for it pushes you right down the road," Rowe told the network. "Those are the people you want to know."
Keeping with Rowe's penchant for shining light on the achievements of the working man and woman, future episodes showcase such jobs as a hair museum owner, employees at a Maryland facility that's "helping to replenish the whooping crane population" and a sign-making business in Austin, Texas.
