Towson University's students will have a featured spot on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," although what they'll be doing and where they'll be doing it remains a mystery.
The show's producers have received permission from Towson to stage an impromptu gathering at 7 p.m. Wednesday somewhere on campus, said Gay Pinder, a media relations specialist for the university. Details of what those gathered will be asked to do, as well as where they will be asked to do it, are still being ironed out and will be communicated via Twitter as the time gets closer.
"We don't know what they're going to ask them to do," Pinder said. "It could be anything."
Representatives from the show were on their way to the campus Tuesday afternoon, she said. DeGeneres herself is not expected to make an appearance.
Pinder said she started tweeting about the event Tuesday afternoon to pique students' interest. Now, she said, the details are largely in the hands of the show's producers and writers, who have staged similar flash-mob-type events at other places.
"They seem to have it pretty much down to a science," she said.
