TV sitcoms are proving to be safe landings for pop starlets restarting their careers.

First there was Britney Spears making a couple of guest appearances on CBS' How I Met Your Mother.

Now comes word that Lindsay Lohan, 21, will make a guest appearance on ABC's Ugly Betty. She will play a schoolmate of Betty Suarez (America Ferrera) on the show's May 22 season closer, according to the trade paper Variety.

Producer Mark Ronson says he and Amy Winehouse have abandoned recording the theme to the latest James Bond film because the singer is "not ready to record any music." He made the comments in an interview with Sky News on Friday.

Ronson says the two started work on the track for the Bond movie Quantum of Solace but it would take "some miracle of science" to finish it.

Winehouse's troubles with drugs, the police and her rocky romance with her jailed husband Blake Fielder-Civil have kept the singer in the spotlight.

Country music singer Gretchen Wilson has a mantel full of awards but what the 34-year-old songwriter doesn't have is a high school diploma. But she soon will.

Wilson, who dropped out in ninth grade, passed her General Educational Development exam last month and will don a cap and gown during a May 15 graduation ceremony.

Wilson told The Tennessean of Nashville that her 7-year-old daughter was the big reason to finally finish, saying, "I certainly don't want her to think you can be this successful without an education."

An attorney says a DNA test confirms James Brown fathered the son of a woman who claimed to be the singer's wife when he died.

Peter Shahid, an attorney for James Brown II, said Friday that the boy was tested in April before a South Carolina judge ordered a paternity test.

The results of the court-ordered test have not been released. The boy is the 6-year-old son of Tomi Rae Hynie, a former backup singer for the "Godfather of Soul."

A call to a spokesman for Hynie and a message left for trustees of Brown's estate were not returned.

Brown died in December 2006.
