Notable Marylanders share what they're giving as holiday gifts [Pictures]
Setting aside the baggage of frantic scheduling and manic shopping, the holidays still provide an opportunity to stop, to celebrate with our closest relations and friends, and to give. This year, the Sun Magazine asked several prominent Marylanders to pause -- for a phone call or an email -- and reveal what they planned to bestow upon those dearest to them. The answers, as you'll see, range from sensual treatments to sentimental treasures.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra music director considered her family's likes and recent life changes when she set out to make purchases. "My son Auden's passions are climbing and reading, so I'll be buying him a membership to Earth Treks climbing gym and also lots of books," she said. For her partner, Kristin Jurkscheit, "She's in the Executive MBA program at Hopkins, so I'll probably get her something that will help her with her work -- maybe something computer-related or a business-book-related -- and take her on a shopping spree, if she ever has time!"
