It's official: "Girl Meets World" has been ordered to series on Disney Channel.
Show, a follow up to '90s ABC sitcom "Boy Meets World," will feature Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga -- this time as adults with a family.
"Girl Meets World" is set in Gotham and follows tween girl Riley Matthews -- daughter of Cory and Topanga -- and her best friend Maya as they explore middle school. Rowan Blanchard ("Spy Kids All the Time in World in 4D") will play Riley, and Sabrina Carpenter will play Maya.
Multicam sitcom hails from It's A Laugh Prods. and "Boy Meets World" creators Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, who will exec produce "Girl Meets World."
Series will begin lensing in Los Angeles this summer, and debut on the kid cabler next year.
"I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids," Jacobs said. "'Girl Meets World' is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made 'Boy Meets World' so popular."
