With "Man of Steel" set to bow in less than two weeks, Warner Bros. is already starting to look for more DC Comics properties to move forward and "Fables" looks to be the next title it has zeroed in on.
"A Royal Affair" helmer Nikolaj Arcel is attached to direct the adaptation with "Fantastic Four" scribe Jeremy Slater on board to pen the script. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.
"Harry Potter" producer David Heyman will produce along with Jeffery Clifford of Heyday Films. In the comic series, the story follows fairy tale and folk story characters who live in exile in New York City after escaping "The Adversary" who conquered their homelands.
Bill Willingham created the comic, which first appeared in 2000.
Warners is keen on setting up additional franchises through the DC Comics world in addition to their properties involving Batman and Superman .
The WME-repped Arcel has been active since directing the Oscar nominated Danish film "A Royal Affair," and will also helm DreamWorks' remake of "Rebecca." The UTA-repped Slater also has Lionsgate's "Reawakening."
