The Hard Rock Hotel has two musical events set for this month: Carl Dixon in Velvet Unplugged and Lemonheads at Velvet Sessions.
Velvet Unplugged is the acoustic (and free) version of the long-running Velvet Sessions, a monthly cocktail party-lobby concert combo at the hotel.
Carl Dixon, formerly of the Guess Who, will perform at Velvet Unplugged at 8 p.m. on Feb. 14. He'll performs hits such as "These Eyes," "American Woman" and "No Sugar Tonight." This show is free of charge in the standing section, although reservations can be made for private tables, cafe-style. The cost is $30 for a table for two and $50 for a table of four. are the musical guest for the Feb. 23 edition of Velvet Sessions. The alt-rock band featuring Evan Dando is known for songs such as "Into Your Arms," "It's a Shame About Ray" and "Mrs. Robinson." For Velvet Sessions, tickets are $29 in advance, $35 at the door. Admission includes free specialty drinks and finger foods from 6:30 to 8 p.m., when the concert and cash bar kicks in.
