Kandace Krueger, the poised and graceful, 5'11 twenty-four year old with hazel-green eyes and blonde hair is a senior Journalism student at Texas A & M University. Put best in her final interview question during the 2001 Miss USA¨ competition, Kandace believes that "everything happens for a reason," and she is confident that she can achieve anything if she puts forth her absolute best effort...Kandace describes herself as a "sports fanatic", but especially enjoys watching football and baseball (the Rangers, Cowboys and Aggies of course!), and aspires to a career in Sports Broadcasting. In addition to sports, her passions include dancing, cooking and working out. Kandace has learned to balance school, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and personal time by being highly organized, a fruit that will come in handy during her reign as Miss USA¨..An advocate of fighting breast cancer and educating young women about early detection, Kandace has worked with organizations including the American Cancer Society in battling a disease that is close to her heart. As a breast cancer survivor, the person that Kandace most admires is her own mother, Barbara. She respects her mother's constant faith and determination, which was the driving force in beating the deadly disease 12 years ago, and describes her as a "wonderful mother and friend."..Kandace will spend the next 12 months as Miss USA¨ acting as a goodwill ambassador, educating young women about early detection of breast and ovarian cancers and working with renowned organizations including the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Fund and Gilda's Club to raise money for the diseases, furthering her own personal and professional goals, and of course, representing the United States in the Miss Universe competition in May 2001.
