Let's keep our eyes on the sunshiny prize. Weekend weather is predicted to be better (a.k.a dry), and there are many entertainment choices to absorb at Orlando theme parks and attractions.
+ But if you want to brave the elements and start early, tonight is the Velvet Sessions concert at Universal's Hard Rock Hotel with Taylor Dayne. Showtime is 8:30, but it's preceded by two hours of free finger foods and specialty drinks. For more information, go to www.velvetsessions.com.
Mardi Gras nights at Universal Studios. Along with the usual bead-crazy parade, look for concerts by rapper Sean Kingston ("Beautiful Girls," "Fire Burning") on Friday and Ne-Yo ("So Sick," "Miss Independent") on Saturday. Show times are 8:30 p.m.; the parade runs just before that. Mardi Gras activities are included in regular park admission. For more information, go to www.universalorlando.com.
+ The weekend's Flower Power concert features Starship starring Mickey Thomas. Show times are 5:15, 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. at Epcot's America Gardens Theatre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It's part of the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. The HGTV personality making appearances at the Festival Center will be Taniya Nayak from "Designed to Sell." Her topic will be "Adding Value to Your Home Without Breaking the Bank," and she'll speak at noon and 3 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The concert and speeches are included in regular park admission. For more information, go to www.disneyworld.com/flower.
+ Puerto Rican singer Ednita Nazario puts the exclamation point on SeaWorld Orlando's Viva La Musica on Saturday. It's the last day of the Latin cuisine and culture event, which begins at noon. Narazio goes on stage at Bayside Stadium at 3 p.m. Viva La Musica is included in regular park admission. For more info, go to www.seaworldorlando.com.
+ Ellen DeGeneres returns to Universal CityWalk to tape two episodes of her talk show, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Sunday. All tickets for seating have been distributed already, but the public can still participate in the Riff Raff Street Party up on the plaza level. (That view is usually pretty good for the musical artists, which have typically performed on a stage up near the CityWalk clubs.) The noon taping will feature LL Cool J, a performance by Duran Duran and an appearance by the Dance Assassin (a.k.a. Robert Hoffman). The 3 p.m. taping will include a performance by Kelly Clarkson and an appearance by Eric Stonestreet of "Modern Family." Hanging with the Riff Raff is free, but be prepared to pay for parking in Universal's mega-garage. I'll be Tweeting from the "Ellen" tapings. Follow me at www.twitter.com/themeparks.
Weekend outlook: Ne-Yo, Sean Kingston, Ellen DeGeneres, more
