Federal Hill bar Boiler Room for sale with March auction scheduled

Boiler Room, a Federal Hill bar known for its arcade games, is for sale, and will hit the auction block on March 1.

The bar ceased regular operations about three months ago, but held occasional events to maintain its liquor license, said Lindsay Taylor, director of property management for Lutherville’s Greenspring Realty Partners, who owns the property. Taylor said the decision to sell was made because “it just doesn’t fit in our portfolio right now.”

Bidding, both online and live on the premises, will begin at 1 p.m. March 1, according to the real estate listing. The auction includes the real estate, the liquor license, bar and kitchen equipment, along with the furniture. The building is listed at 1,984 square feet, and includes a basement and second floor.

The same team behind nearby bar Bookmakers Cocktail Club managed Boiler Room.

The listing does not disclose a price because Greenspring hopes “to see a good, aggressive approach to some bidding,” Taylor said.

Located in the space that once housed Corfu and Crazy Lil’s, Boiler Room opened in January 2016 with classic arcade consoles such as “Donkey Kong,” “Mortal Kombat” and Skee-ball. It was more casual than Bookmakers, and the bar program was known for beer-and-shot pairings.

The Baltimore Business Journal first reported the news of the auction.
