McHenry Row is getting its own beer-centric bar, the chain World of Beer, this June or July, according to McHenry Row developer Mark Sapperstein.
Baltimore's 3,400-square-foot World of Beer will serve 550-600 different types of beers, including many esoteric brews from around the world, Sapperstein said.
"Other than Max's on Broadway, which offers a large array of beers, [World of Beer] is clearly over the top," Sapperstein said. "I don't think there are many [Baltimore bars] that offer that type of selection."
Sapperstein says World of Beer, which has 37 locations across the country, will have a limited menu. It will also place and pick up orders for customers at surrounding restaurants, such as sandwich shop Jimmy John's.
The current closest World of Beer to Baltimore is in Arlington, Va. It is also the most recent franchise. Sapperstein, who visited the Arlington location recently, says the bar is off to a hot start, and he envisions the Baltimore location having similar success. He says he has received many inqueries about the city getting its own World of Beer.
"Baltimore is going to love it," he said. "We get so many calls about this. It's a bigger happening than [McHenry Row's] Harris Teeter. I can't believe it."Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
