The Virgin Mobile FreeFest — the annual, all-day music festival that brought Jack White, Skrillex, Alabama Shakes and more to the area last October — will return to Columbia's Merriweather Post Pavilion this year, spokeswoman Audrey Fix Schaefer confirmed on Tuesday night.

There are no other details, such as the lineup or date of the concert, to report as of now, Schaefer said.

Last year, I.M.P. chairman and FreeFest producer Seth Hurwitz said he hoped FreeFest would take place at Merriweather again.

"I'd rather it be [here] forever," Hurwitz said at the time, "that way we can work on it a lot sooner every year. But Virgin foots the bill and they have to look at their budget every year. They can't plan that far in the future but they've kept coming back so far."

Last year, the announcement of FreeFest's return to Columbia was announced on July 6.

The Black & White, the independent student newspaper of Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, first reported the news earlier this month.
