From the Baltimore corners to off-Broadway lights comes "The Wire: The Musical" ... except not really.
Leave it to Funny or Die to take Baltimore's most beloved HBO series about the failings of, ahem, Baltimore and parody it as an over-the-top theater production.
There's really no knocking this: FOD gathered Michael K. Williams(Omar), Sonja Sohn (Kima), Andre Royo (Bubbles) and Felicia Pearson (Snoop) for the four-minute piece that features a song with the lyrics "I'm just a burner."
But for my money, the most welcome cast addition is Larry Gilliard Jr., better known as D'Angelo. If you don't know his character's story arc, well, go to Sound Garden right now and get used DVDs immediately. For the rest of us, it's about time D got some more spotlight. The "Drugs-as-Chess" metaphor song is top-notch.
