Food has always played a significant role in the Sweetlife Music + Food Festival, but this year's lineup of chefs, food trucks and more could arguably rival the music talent.
Woodberry Kitchen's Spike Gjerde, one of Baltimore's most famous chef-restaurateurs and a James Beard award semifinalist, and Chef Erik Bruner-Yang of Washington's Toki Underground will curate the sweetlife Night Market, which will serve steamed buns, roasted pig, drunken noodle, pho dogs and more.
The fifth annual concert — featuring music headliners Lana Del Rey, Foster the People and 2 Chainz — is scheduled for May 10 at Merriweather Post Pavilion. It is sold out, but the concert's creator, Sweetgreen, is giving away tickets on its Instagram account this week. (For more information on the giveaway, click here.)
Shake Shack, the popular hamburger chain by Danny Meyer, leads a group of Washington restaurants that will be on hand to serve food. Others include DGS Delicatessen, Roofers Union, Chaia Tacos, Dolcezza Gelato, Luke's Lobster, Rappahannock Oysters, TaDah! Foods, Pete's New Haven Style Apizza, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken and more.
There will also be food trucks, all from the D.C. area: Pepe by Jose Andres, TaKorean, The Big Cheese, The Randy Radish, DC Empanadas and PhoWheels.
For beer fans, there's Sweetlife Pale Wheat, a collaboration between Sweetlife and Flying Dog Brewery. Stillwater Artisanal Ales will be the other Baltimore beer representative.
Proceeds from the concert will support "Sweetgreen in Schools," a program that teaches students in the Washington-metro area about healthful eating.
