Mac Miller, the Pittsburgh rapper and social media powerhouse, is Pier Six Pavilion's first show of the season on April 26.
The concert was going to be announced next week, but Rams Head Live, which books the outdoor venue, gave Midnight Sun the heads up after Miller's upcoming concert at the Patriot Center was announced.
The show will also be presented by Towson University.
The sponsorship makes sense for the school as Miller, 19, owes his enormous success to a young fan base cultivated online.
His debut, "Blue Slide Park," cruised to the top of the Billboard 200 without the help of traditional promotional channels. It did not have a major label behind it, was not and still isn't played much on the radio and was not endorsed by any superstars before its release last November.
It got there thanks to Miller's vast influence on social media; he has nearly 1.7 million Twitter followers and his YouTube channel has over 240 million views.
Tickets for the show, which start at $30, go on sale February 3.
Update: Rams Head has moved ticket sales to Friday.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
