Weekend's best bet: Ehse on Ice 2012 at Mt. Pleasant Ice Arena

Even though we're being teased by spring's pending arrival (Friday's forecast says it could get up to 71 degrees), it's still February, it's still winter and it's still a fine time to lace up some ice skates.

Ehse on Ice returns for another year of silly fun (seriously, falling on ice alongside friends is one of life's joys) and the experimental noise music we've come to expect from the Baltimore label. For $7 ($5 at the door, $2 for skate rental), you'll be able to skate around and hear sets from Matmos (a group formerly on Matador Records that once based an entire record on sampled hospital sounds), Salamander Wool (aka Carson Garhart, who will celebrate the release of his second Ehse record, a creepy self-titled effort you can stream here) and This World Sucks (Janitor's Scott Redding and Needle Gun's Brian Christopher). Jon Ehrens, the mastermind behind White Life and dozens of other one-off projects, will DJ.

No need to purchase tickets ahead of time, just show up to the arena (6101 Hillen Road) on Saturday night. The show starts at 10:30 p.m. For more info, check out the event's Facebook page.
