The Fillmore Silver Spring just loves Wale.
The rapper, who just played the Live Nation venue in late October, will return January 1. The Fillmore bills it an "Encore." Black Cobain will open.
Wale has been recently dismissed as a sell-out by many in hip hop, including other rappers. But, he's proven he's relevant, at least on the Billboard charts, with a new hit album, "Ambition." Tickets for the standing-room only show, at $35, went on sale Friday.
Also at the Fillmore: 90s vets Flogging Molly, out with album "Speed of Darkness," will perform February 24. Tickets, at $30, go on sale Friday.
Now that the Backstreet Boys-New Kids on the Block tour is over, some of its members are going on the road solo. Nick Carter will be performing at Rams Head Live February 3 to promote new album, "I'm Taking Off."
In the album's press notes, Carter explained the title: "“I felt like this was my moment. I’m rising to the occasion and taking off,” he says with conviction." No doubt the show will be as eloquent as that press release. Tickets, at $30, go on sale Thursday.
Singer-songwriter Steve Earle, known for politically-conscious songs "The Revolution Starts Now" and "Ellis Unit One," will perform at Rams Head on Stage January 24.
A prolific musician, Earle released his 13th full-length album, "I'll Never Get out of This World Alive," in April. Tickets are $49.50. On-sale information was not included in the concert's announcement.
Buzzband Real Estate will perform at Washington's Black Cat January 22.Information on tickets has not been released.
The band just released "Days" earlier this year; among the producers? Fellow Garden Stater Kevin McMahon, of Titus Andronicus.
Comedian Jim Gaffigan is on the road for "The America" tour. He'll perform at the Warner Theater in Washington twice on February 25, at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets, starting at $39.50, go on sale Friday.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
