Starscape headliner Skrillex will return to Baltimore this Fall.
Skrillex, who started out as the frontman of a California emo band, has become one of the most recognized names in dubstep. He's been making the festival rounds this year, appearing at both Ultra in Miami and Starscape earlier this year.
Steez Promo, the Starscape promoters, booked him to perform at Rams Head Live October 5. Nadastrom - Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom's DC collective - are also on the bill.
Tickets, at $25, go on sale Monday.
Black Star - Mos Def and Talib Kweli - are touring again. The duo will perform at the Fillmore, the new Live Nation venue in Silver Spring, September 18, just around the time the spiffy theater opens.
The show is part of a pair of tours advertised under the Rock the Bells brand that will start in August with Ghostface Killah and Raekwon. The Wu-Tang members, who've played shows in the area recently, will tour August and September, but the nearest show will be in Philadelphia August 16.
Black Star's tour will kick off in late August and end in early October. No ticket information was available for the Silver Spring show. Tickets at other venues have started at $43. Will update when we get more information. Update: Tickets, starting at $50, go on sale July 29.
Comedian Michael Ian Black, star of "Wet Hot American Summer," the greatest movie ever, will perform at the Ottobarin November 12.
He's listed in Monozine/Ottobar's weekly newsletter with guests, but those will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday on missiontix.com. Price was not listed.
Update: Jason Mraz is coming to Columbia. The singer will perform at Merriweather Post Pavilion with California singer/guitarist Colbie Caillat on September 24.
