No. 6 -- Max's Taphouse( Kenneth K. Lam, Baltimore Sun / February 13, 2010 )
Max's beer selection is hard to beat. It's so sprawling it even has a whole festival dedicated to its 400-strong selection of Belgian beers. A short walk from a stunning view of the port, it's also in perhaps one of the most handsome parts of Fells Point. Some of the best joints of the neighborhood -- The Wharf Rat, Blue Moon -- are also nearby, making Max's a sort of spiritual leader of the area. Inside, the bar is decorated with borrowed parts from other places -- like wood from the burnt Clipper Mill -- so that it's not just part of Fells Point, but to paraphrase the Snapple slogan, made from the best stuff in Maryland. -- Erik Maza
