Whether the game is home or away, Mother's is one of the biggest and best places to watch it. A few years ago, Mother's added a huge expansion called Mother's on the Alley, and the outdoor Purple Patio is perennially packed before, during and after home games.
For 1 p.m. home games, people start showing up around 8 a.m. for brunch and Bloody Marys. Some stay until the game's over. The patio starts getting busy around 10 a.m.
Drinks: Outside, 16-ounce Miller Lites are $4.50, 24-ounce Miller Lites are $6.50 and 24-ounce Yuenglings are $7.50. When the weather's nice, they sell 16-ounce frozen drinks for $7.
Food: Chicken cheese steaks and burgers are par for the course. If you're up for it, order the infamous Heart Attack on a Plate ($10.99) — an 8-ounce burger stuffed with cheddar cheese and deep fried. And in the next few weeks, Mother's also hopes to offer hot dogs from Stuggy's Old Fashioned in Fells Point.
Décor: Since the weather before the home opener was less than ideal, the Mother's crew didn't get to properly set up the Purple Patio. Rest assured that it will be in full swing for the next home game. They set up goal posts and hang a 52-inch TV from the roof. Inside Mother's on the Alley, there is plenty of room, including a 60-foot, 6-inch bar (the distance from the pitcher's mound to home plate on a major league baseball field).
Distance from the stadium: Less than a mile (.8 miles, technically). Mother's is one of SoBo's closest bars to the stadium. If you have tickets, you can wait until close to game time before heading over to M&T Bank Stadium (and inevitably paying more for food and drinks).
Parking: Good luck. It's illegal to park on most streets in Federal Hill during Ravens or Orioles home games (you could get towed or a hefty ticket). Head for the West Street garage, 40 E. West St.
