Street cred

Jay-Z: He wasn't kidding about the hard-knock life. Jay, who grew up in Marcy Projects, may have never been a kingpin, but he was a mid-level coke dealer before he made it big. Kanye: The guy named his first album "The College Dropout" -- that says it all, no? Ironically, the fact that Kanye has been honest about his middle-class past eventually earned him respect in the streets.
