The Perfect Poor

Hometown: Baltimore

Current members: Nick Albrecht, lead singer and rhythm guitarist; Darren Saxton, bass player; Pat Pulliam, drums

Founded in: 2004

Style: rock 'n' roll

Influenced by: Elvis, Dick Dale, Motorhead, Creedence Clearwater Revival

Notable: A number of different drummers and lead guitarists play on the group's debut album, The Devil Made Me Who I Am. It gives the album a choppy feel -- something other bands might not tolerate. But Saxton said he and the other two members don't mind. The CD release party is April14.

Quotable: "We've kind of got a disjointed sound anyway," Saxton said. "We pull from so many genres. You might hear one song that's a Southern rock song and another song that's more of a rockabilly surf song. ... I guess in some ways it's a good thing, but it's also a bad thing, because a lot of people try and pinpoint you as one genre."
