Hometown: Baltimore

Current members: Mike Ruocco, lead vocals and guitar; Jim Boyer, bass; Mac Calvaresi, drums and vocals; Chris Shucosky, guitar and vocals

Founded in: 1995

Style: pop rock

Influenced by: Elvis Presley, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and Madonna

Notable: This year, Plunge hopes to release a two-disc EP with songs and videos through Columbia Records. Through Armed Forces Entertainment (a USO-like organization), the band has toured in Greenland and Japan. Starting in April, the band tours Korea, Guam and the Marshall Islands.

Quotable: "The audience is unbelievable," said Ruocco, who also plays bass in SR-71. "How many bands travel around the world specifically to go play concerts for the troops? One in a million. The guys are so appreciative. It's actually kind of heartbreaking. I remember a specific time in Japan where a Marine came up to me and said, 'For the last hour that I was here at your show, I forgot where I was and I thought I was back home with my friends drinking beer and watching a rock band.'"
