The band's new album, Ice Cream Spiritual, will be released next month. Recording and mixing it only took a couple of weeks. But the band sometimes spent as long as three months writing a single track, Wong said. The reason? Everybody in the group has input on the music.

"We try to keep it as democratic as possible," Wong said. "There isn't anybody in the group who brings in whole songs to play. We start from scratch most of the time. One person would have one idea and we'd work from that and it would change completely."
