Jon Stewart flew in, brought the family, stayed at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, made jokes about "the vast square footage" of Orlando's restaurants, and hosted an hour long Q & A (prepared bits, fan-submitted questions) with Star Wars creator George Lucas at Star Wars: Celebration V's "Main Event" Saturday.
At a pre-event chat backstage, Stewart pondered the big questions he wouldn't ask -- "How many younglings will be born, conceived at this convention?"
Stewart thought it "daunting to have created something that took on a life of its own
If I were ever at a 'Daily Show' convention and people had built life-sized Daily Shows
because we don't really have any merchandising
I'd be daunted, too."
Stewart has been a fan since "the days when if you got a 'Star Wars' toy, you actually played with it."
Stewart, 47, wants to know "Why the Belgians (Belgian fans in the 501st Legion) keep building giant space ships (scattered through the convention's main hall). 'That's a FULL SIZE TIE FIGHTER! 'Yes, it is.'
Which character would fare the best taking over for Stewart on "The Daily Show"?
"Sadly, Jar Jar."
His son told him once on arriving that his favorite "Star Wars" movie is "Phantom Menace." "And I said to him, 'No, it's not.'"
