The Weinstein Co. has acquired the U.S. rights to John Curran's "Tracks," starring Mia Wasikowska and Adam Driver.

The film had its world premiere Thursday at the Venice International Film Festival as part of the main competition and screened this past weekend at Telluride. "Tracks" will screen Sept. 10 and 11 at the Toronto International Film Festival. Curran is known for directing "The Painted Veil."

"Tracks" stars Wasikowska as Robyn Davidson, a young woman who, in 1977, left behind her city life for a journey of self-discovery trekking with a dog and four camels across almost 2,000 miles of Australian desert. Driver plays Rick Smolan, a National Geographic photographer Robyn encounters on her journey who begins to photograph her travels.

"The response to this film out of Venice and Telluride was nothing short of astounding, and is well-deserved," said Weinstein Co. Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein in a statement.

A U.S. release date has not been announced.
