Oh, Tina Fey, only you can spin an ill-timed nip slip into promotional gold.
The "30 Rock" star, 43, who took home an Emmy for writing in a comedy series on Sunday, exposed a bit more than she wanted when she took the stage with writer Tracy Wigfield for their acceptance speech.
Her blue, cleavage-happy Narciso Rodriguez gown briefly flashed her nipple to viewers, but a quick dress adjustment ameliorated the situation. However, post-Emmy coverage magnified the minor peep show and Fey isn't taking it — at least not with all her clothes on.
The former "Saturday Night Live" writer is set to host the season 39 premiere of the sketch comedy this weekend and did the TV spots with longtime cast member Kenan Thompson to promote her appearance.
"Hi, I'm Tina Fey," she announced in one promo, "And I'm hosting the season premiere of 'Saturday Night Live' this weekend with musical guest Arcade Fire."
"And there will be no more wardrobe malfunctions like at the Emmys," Thompson said.
"No, that's right," she insisted.
"I mean, unless you wanna do one," he added. "I think it'll be funny."
"No, it's not gonna happen, it's under control," a crossed-arm Fey said before raising her arms to make her point. "It's not going to happen again!"
She shouted that last part and gesticulated, only to open up her black blazer and reveal her disrobed (and very blurred out) chest.
"Forgot my shirt," she said to herself. "Forgot my shirt."
The funnywoman is returning to her old stomping grounds to host for the third time. She was the show's first female head writer and co-anchored "Weekend Update" with Jimmy Fallon and later pal Amy Poehler.
Fey left "SNL" in 2006 to develop the Emmy-winning NBC comedy "30 Rock," which wrapped its seventh season in last year, but has made guest appearances on the show repeatedly, most notably to perform her impersonation of 2008 vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
Will we see more of that this Saturday? You betcha! (At least we hope we will.)
