"Modern Family" actress Sofia Vergara (Allen J. Schaben / Los Angeles Times /September 22, 2013)
Kunal Nayyar's character Raj Koothrappali had a breakthrough at the end of last season on "The Big Bang Theory." He can finally talk to women without consuming alcohol first.
His character is usually mute when there's a female nearby, but now that he can speak without liquid courage, he's going to get himself in all sorts of trouble.
"He can now talk to women without alcohol, so who knows what he's going to say," Nayyar said Sunday on the Emmy Awards red carpet.
"He may think he's deep or smooth, but he's just getting used to talking to them. So he's going to make a lot of faux pas. But hopefully someone will just fall into his lap."
The actor's show is up for best comedy, and he's fully embraced all the different ways to consume TV, using "everything" to stay caught up.
"I'll watch an entire season of stuff on an airplane on my way to India. I use Hulu, Netflix, Apple TV, whatever."
His pre-Emmy ritual, he said, was "showering and putting on a tux and watching some football."
